It took me a long time to realize when you speak about a dam you are talking about a body of water. When I talk about a dam I mean the structure that blocks flowing water to create the body of water.

@grammyn They are all called dams here Katy, some natural and others often man made. Just a huge hole on the property that fills up with water. Most of the farmers have bore holes and others live close to rivers and get their water from there. We normally have a lot of rain during the winter months too :-)
