Mallards? by ludwigsdiana

Mallards?

There is such a variety of different ducks basically all looking the same. Most are yellow billed with a touch of mallard maybe?
I like the pop of green on their wings

I’m a certain I wouldn’t know, but I do love the photo that you captured and the colors that show up so well in it.

A nice capture of these two, Diana! My eye goes straight to the colour patches on their wings! I'm afraid I don't know my ducks at all, but on first viewing, they do appear to be mallards to me (?) Fav

Lovely shot.

Not sure- the only Mallards I'm familiar with are the soft-brown females and the males with the bright green head. But we're Northern Hemisphere and you're Southern- so there could be different breeds between the two. Nice shot.

Ah, now we're talking. We have mallards in this part of Canada and sometimes lots. Like Ann H. also noted, our mallard ladies are soft brown and males can get colorful heads. Nice capture of these.

Yes, these ones look a bit Mallardy!

@olivetreeann @jerzyfotos We do have them here, but they are a particularly unwelcome invasive alien species ;-)

@ludwigsdiana I'm not surprised- they populate quickly around here too but they're not invaders up here.
