I finally got one yesterday when my daughter arrived home for the holidays. I never knew how complicated it is to use, so all I did was a test on my patio. I would appreciated any tips from those you have been posting wonderful shots. e.g. Babs and Margo.
I saw this and *immediately* checked to see your outcome! I had abysmal failures trying to photograph a Christmas bouquet on my coffee table. I've used it before, and outdoors seems to work best. I love that you wrapped it in a monochrome to avoid the distractions (which "can work" or often, work against you! I discovered I don't use it as much as I thought I might though I really love a good outcome!
My tip is never leave it where sun can spend a long time passing through. A lens at the museum here charcoaled the wall behind it, and when I was carrying my ball one day, the sun through it raised a blister on my palm. But I love mine, still haven’t gotten any idea whether I like the upside down image or the ones I rotate best.
I just bought one of these recently and haven’t tried it yet. I did read there was kind of a learning curve to this. I know it can be tricky to get a good clear image and you did well!
