One of the two mums

we saw with their calves. The bulls were not around, they were with a herd of buffalo.

Nice mum and bub shot

Nice pic. It's a shame that their horns have to be cut off because of people.

Such an exotic sight for a Norwegian. All I see on my walks are dogs, crows and seagulls :-)

This is such a sweet capture! I am curious as to how they remove their horns...I assume they have to tranquilize them, but can they do it right there or do they have to transport them somewhere else for the procedure?

Lovely capture!

Looks like a mud bath is all the rage for mum and her calf
February 10th, 2024
Fabulous capture. I'm so sad to see their horns cut maybe this stops the poachers?
February 10th, 2024
An endearing scene and capture, Diana! But how sad that their horns need to be removed. Poachers! Agh! (Fav for your great photo!)

Great shot- mum seems to be doing a good job. Her baby looks very happy and healthy.

Great capture.

So cool

@bluemoon I don't think they transport them anywhere Paula. They get sedated, blindfolded and put earplugs in the ears. The horn gets removed with a chainsaw but only the top part without nerves. The base is then sanded down :-(

So lovely

Superb capture

Stunning! It's a sad commentary that rhino's have to be disfigured to avoid being poached! Tell poachers to just go sit and bite their own fingernails for all the good it does!!! :(
