Gladiolus alatus
a rare species growing wild in the Olive grove. We are living here 12 years now, it is the first time that these little flowers are showing up all over. One wonders why now?

Well spotted, it's not very tall is it? Lovely colour. Perhaps it has z long growth cycle??

How lovely to see it grow wild. Wouldn't it be lovely if it was a sign you was in for a decent spring/summer for rainfall :)

Some flowers really don’t bloom often. Twelve years does seem like a long time though!

Such a pretty flower. Wild flowers seem to bloom when the weather conditions are right for them.

I've never seen these either, what a beautiful little plant. It obviously liked those drought conditions earlier in the year!

Fortunately we did have a lot of rain this winter, the whole Olive grove was a blaze with tiny little wildflowers :)
