The House of the Spider by maggiemae

The House of the Spider

This involved a lot of bottom scraping on the gravel driveway as it was very low down. Half the time I was shooting blind so quite pleased with this one!
Vee
Oh yes, that's awesome!

Great result - love the clarity and POV
July 28th, 2012
Way cool. So sorry about the bottom scraping--doesn't sound like fun AT ALL, but hope it is some consolation knowing this is a fantastic shot!!!
July 28th, 2012
Awesome shot! I think there's always one or two shots where you earn your 365 stripes by contorting or climbing into a precarious position! You get a gold star for this one!

Cool shot
July 28th, 2012
Wow - super capture!

July 28th, 2012
@chard It was Olympic stuff, Richard!
July 28th, 2012
@yonnie No damage - just getting up from a prone position might have worried passerbyes - thinking I'd fallen down - poor old lady! lol
July 28th, 2012
@maggiemae Hey, at least you could get up ; ) It is getting harder and harder for me to get up. Hate to think what it's going to be like in a few more years.
July 28th, 2012
@yonnie you mean one day, Yvonne, all the pictures we will see will be shot from the floor?
July 28th, 2012
Fabulous shot.
July 28th, 2012
@maggiemae Ha, ha!!!!

Love this shimmery web! Great capture!
July 28th, 2012
The length we 365ers will go to to get our shots. Great job Maggiemae. It paid off. This is a fantastic photo. Great composition and POV. The lighting on the web is beautiful.

@hjbenson I've found that as they are so hard for a camera to focus on, I focus on something else the same distance then move the camera to where I think the web is and snap. Took about 10 before I got it right - and up from the driveway!

nice effort, good one
July 28th, 2012
Great capture of the web…
July 28th, 2012
Well worth the scraped bottoms, I would say. Wonderful, perfect cobweb shot!
July 28th, 2012
Thanks for your words, Jolly and for following my other photos! Had to scrape the gravel from my trousers and pride before going back inside!
July 28th, 2012
Great shot. These can be quite hardto capture
July 28th, 2012
Haha! I've grazed my knees this week getting my High Summer shot when I was grovelling around on my berber twist carpet in the heat! Great shot and your efforts and gravel knees have been rewarded!
July 28th, 2012
@jackie8 Carpet burn is worse than gravel rash, Jackie!
July 28th, 2012
Brilliant patterns and capture!
July 28th, 2012
This looks like an ENORMOUS web! Very nice framing.
July 28th, 2012
Definitely a great shot of a web!
July 28th, 2012
You should be very pleased with this shot maggiemae, the web looks like a massive full sized almost gate like entrance. You just caught that perfect angle that gives it that sheen & so highlighting the web so well.
Wonder what the neighbours thought!
July 28th, 2012
Turned out great plus love the framing and processing!
July 28th, 2012

Fav. Great photo of a web. I was so excited this week but you've put mine to shame.
July 28th, 2012
@ptowncook My previous web was a mess so I was only going to do one that was whole. No spider though!
July 28th, 2012
@wordpixman I've enjoyed your trip, thank you Arthur!
July 28th, 2012
@happypat Thanks Pat, it was actually only as big as a dinner plate!

July 29th, 2012
Super capture!
July 29th, 2012
Excellent!
July 29th, 2012
I like the framing - in the thumbnail I thought the hedge was grass and the photo was on its side. It adds something otherworldly.
July 29th, 2012
@aleconstantine You never know with these photographers who angle pictures!
July 29th, 2012
great capture of this
July 29th, 2012
What a great capture of this web, Maggiemae.
July 30th, 2012
Thats awesome - I think the iron work bordering and processing makes a good good photo even better.

@doblaine Thank you for your observation, David. Sometimes I can just see a phot through a frame and other times it doesn't suit, I think!
July 31st, 2012
