A new antique shop has opened up here in the historic part of town in one of the huge buildings. The room is like a museum with collections from around the world, particularly Indonesia. I was invited to the opening and enjoyed a new Pinot Gris from the Waitaki area and wonderful cheeses. There were quite a few displays with ducks in them! Seen here in front of a folding screen.
My mother's 1929 journal didn't advance much as I had other commitments (like mowing the lawn) She was in Inverness and not very impressed. It teemed with rain most of the time. Before that, there was Forres where she saw the Suenos Stone, a most interesting piece of architecture when I googled it! It is over 6.5metres and it is the largest surviving Pictish stone of its type in Scotland. Forres is up on the north eastern part of lower Scotland and on the coastal route to Inverness.
I know Forres so well & my brother was born in the town. We used to live there when my father was stationed at Lossiemouth during the war.
A big display of Union Jacks here maggiemae, suppose the Commonwealth & all that!
Lovely capture and great composition. Cute ducks! Definately looks like an interesting shop. I'd love to wonder around that myself. Hope you had a wonderful time.
@lyno@northy ha ha, you two! That wasn't all, of course, I had to attend this fancy store opening and force that Black Stilt pinot gris down my throat!
Wow, what a gorgeous display. Love your photo, Maggiemae. There is plenty to do at home and just being on 365 gets overwhelming but add your Mom's journal to it is a lot to do.
@darsphotos 365 is the best time of my day, Darlene! The Journal, I can spend 3 hours typing and loving what I'm reading and researching and never know where the time goes!
Cheese, wine and antique shops..... the perfect way to spend the day. Except I would be so tempted to spend! Love your display, Maggie and you are making amazing progress on the history in your journal.
I guess there will be days when working on your mom's journal when life gets in the way.
A big display of Union Jacks here maggiemae, suppose the Commonwealth & all that!
My mother was stationed at Lossiemouth during the war and I have often heard her talk about Forres.
