This is a new bike trail just created at the edge of this road which previously was quite dangerous to bike along. It is part of a huge 5 day affair starting at Mt Cook, our highest peak, running down valleys and rivers, past lakes and orchards, finishing in Oamaru at the Harbourside. This part is going down in to the town.
Three good things;
1. I feel safe riding along this road now.
2. I feel lucky to be able to still ride!!
3. I feel lucky to own a really good bicycle!
good for you. continue to ride for as long as your body permits you to, and so glad you now have a safer bike path. you've been into this processing thing lately. lovely textures on this one.
I wish they would do that here. There is a three foot rule here in the States that you must give bike riders when passing them, and if another car is coming, it can be dangerous
We are getting more bike trails here in Maryland and in PA. They are connecting old railroad lines with walking/biking paths and calling it the Rail Trail. Eventually, you will be able to bike from PA to DC and back again. It is quite exciting!
nice addition to the roadways for sure. and the road looks to have a wonderful scenic ride! it is still tough to feel safe on the road with a bike! I love your constant flow of thanksgiving. was that inspired by anything in particular?
@moreyoulessme thankyou Jerri for your contact! Inspired by my 365 friends more than anything! It helps with being happy with what you have and not what you want!
@smellychelli it was a beautiful day, Michelle - no wind which makes for easy riding! I'm a fair weather biker - was also the same with sailing but hubby liked danger!
You are a brave woman. I haven't been on a bike for a long time. (I would love to ride on a trail as long as there were no cars around. But riding downhill, if it was steep, would be a little scary!!!!)
Nice shot! I love the vibrant color of the bike and the trees. It looks like a nice bike path, too. We have bike paths here, but bikers don't use them for some strange reason. Very well composed picture, Maggiemae!
We have a really cool bike trail that circles around the entire greater Orlando area. One segment of it is only a mile from our home. If I only had a bike! I gave up bike riding when we got our dog. I like the effects here and how the lines lead you down that long road ahead. Happy trails!
It sounds like an amazing ride, and I bet full of stunning scenery too. I love bike trails, as I too wouldn't feel safe riding without one on a busy open road.
