A little lighthouse on the coastline at Bluff. The day deteriorated rapidly as a storm front moved in. The annual Oyster Festival was closed down with gale force winds and rain! I managed to eat one oyster! The small town of Bluff was in lockdown mode as the only way out had been blocked by falling power lines! We were snug in our backpackers but now have to get back home! Snow and high winds are ahead of us! Cross fingers we will be safe in our home tonight!
You are a stalwart .....all that bad weather, poor reception & you still managed to post! I saw your photo up for a while with no writing but I thought maggiemae must be having slow internet somewhere! Hope you plough through the bad weather...talked to Ant .& Jo this morning & they said it was cold & damp......brrrrrrr! Love your sepia....works so well with this lighthouse. Rain, rain ,rain all day here & it's summer....soon be longest day!
Well you got a fabulous photo as a momento even if that is all you got from your outing. I hope you travel safely. I feel for the town though because I am sure they put a lot of effort into preparing for the festival and that must be so disappointing for them.
@lwain You are right, Lindy but everybody had to buy a ticket $25, before they got in so they are not out financially and after the tents flew away and the people left, most of them were stuck in the town so they thronged the cafes, the pubs and the fish & chip shops! However, they had quite a few bands organised and althought they played in an indoor area, most of the people had left the venue!
@happypat it was all a big have, Pat! No probs all way home! A menacing big black cloud came charging up at night(got a photo) dropped some hail then left!
Yes, I heard on the news about the cancelled oyster festival - lucky for the oysters I suppose. Glad to see you've made it safely home now. Nice retro shot of this little lighthouse by the way.
