The Barns of USA by maggiemae

The Barns of USA

Well around central USA anyway are so huge! A lot of them are ruins and barely standing so good some good opportunities on our way across South Dakota to Watertown. There were lots of little lakes which made for some excitement in the flat landscape but they aren't a patch on NZ lakes for beauty.

Three good things:
1. A lunch at an Irish Pub that had Welsh Flags, filled us up so much we didn't eat for the rest of the day!
2. Saw our first deer bounding over the fields and another one in a small cemetery. That one was alive, the other inhabitants, not!
3. It appears fame does not bring happiness - RIP Robin Williams. (not a good thing but notable)
Love this typical USA shot!

A barn of significant proportions indeed. They are often very colourful I note. I love your processing in this photo too.
Very sad about Robin Williams I feel like i have lost an old friend, I know his voice and laugh so well.

Wonderful shot! It reminds me of my grandmother, who used to look for old red barns to create oil paintings of.

Lucky you seeing these fab barns...such character, shame if they aren't kept in good repair. I love your editing......theses HDR shots show so much more detail!
Not good news this morning about Robin Williams....a genius & how often does that talent go with a fragile mentality.....the entertainment world is all the worse for his passing.

@happypat You are right - heard of comedians with depression e.g., Stephen Fry for one. The brain might be wired differently. Thanks for the good words!

A very typical American barn and yes many of them are falling down wrecks. At least the lakes out west are natural -- Maryland doesn't have one natural lake, all manmade.

What a thwacking great barn - it looks enormous. Great processing.

@tristansmum I do thank you for you nice words but I suspect it is more the processing than the initial photographing that is the better! I do respect the new camera I have, though!

Great shot! I like you have chosen the pov here. Our barns are smaller but I think they are more ruined nowadays.
