The Cat and the Fiddle by maggiemae

The Cat and the Fiddle

I wanted to include the starkness of the area around this mountain top pub so processed it this way.
The Cat and Fiddle Inn is the second-highest inn or public house in England (the Tan Hill Inn being the highest). The inn is situated on the eastern fringes of Cheshire in the Peak District National Park on the A537 road just west of the Derbyshire/Cheshire county boundary, on the western side of Axe Edge Moor. It is at an elevation of 515 metres (1,689 ft) above sea level.

Three good things:
1.Too much food and very little exercise will end soon.
2. A sad goodbye to England but now on the road to home and pussycat.
3. All the usual friends whose names I see on my posts make such interesting comments. I would love to have the time and internet connection to reply to them all!
Nice finish of this bleak looking place

Beautiful processing here. And it looks like a great place to stop for lunch.

@wearing0 Bleak is the right word, Deb! Covered in snow in the winter!

You did capture the mood really well with the 'straight on' composition. The processing is perfect too.

Ooh I know this well! Great capture and love your processing. Yes it really is bleak in winter and the road is often closed when it snows. Safe journey home! What an incredible trip you have been on. You need a rest after all that travelling!

You have edited this photo perfectly maggimae .......it looks lonely & bleak even in this summer photo. Glad you got about a bit yesterday, there are some lovely parts of the country round where you are staying.
Safe journey home ...I know you are stopping off in a few places so we might see some more places yet!! Home just in time for your glorious summer! X

Had many a happy hour in this place, lots of bikers used to stop and have a drink on there way or away from Matlock. Lovely effect Maggie.

We used to stop here when we had been to visit my Grandparents ..... it can be very bleak up there. Lovely processing :)

@happypat thanks Pat - yes I realised there was a lot of England that one misses going on the motorways! I was so excited about this place as I had read a book about this lady crossing England by foot and she went here!

@leananiemand Looks like a great lot of country lanes and stark hills to bike - either by push bike or motor!

@annied Really? Maybe it will still be a destination for you!

Very nicely done.

You used processing very effectively to convey the feeling of the surroundings here. It's great to travel but also great to go home, don't you find?

Love this the stark simplicity of this image. Stripped of atmosphere It allows the architectural structure to leap to the fore.

Nice shot, Maggie. Very cool processing. It looks like an etching that you may have done yourself!
