The decorations are up in Oamaru having replaced the Victorian Heritage flags that were there before.
Three good things;
1. We had some rain which the farmers will appreciate.
2. Everybody's talking about the Rolling Stones concert. So many people went from all round NZ.
3. Writing lists madly for our trip south. Its the annual Burt Munro Challenge in Invercargill where thousands of bikers come and compete in 6 different types of races.
This is such a quaint cute scene. What is STEAM? a cafe? I just realized looking at it that STEAM is the word "meats" backwards. Okay, that is weird. I 'll be quite now. haha I teach my 4th graders about how the Northern and Southern hemisphere have opposite seasons but not opposite "holidays" so they thought that was funky. That at Christmas, you were having "summer" or your warmest temps. But I just did a bit of research on your village there....the climate chart indicates you guys really don't get over the 60s Farenheit /19 or 20 C ? Wow. Super mild there then! Did not realize that.
Love the edit here maggiemae....such very fine detail.....not sure how you did this but it's just lovely.......love looking at your home town. More travels ....you two are real globe trotters! The Rolling Stones ....not a fan but would be a great night! Rid Stewart is coming to your shores next April....far more my scene!
Lovely capture of a street in Oamaru with very tasteful decorations!! How exciting you are off on your travels again - I love the sound of the Burt Munro Challenge. You do lead a very interesting life Maggimae!!
I always like the build up to Christmas but having good weather at Christmas seems wrong! I also like the railway crossing sign with the crossed bars as well as the rest of the shot
Lovely view of the buildings and street, looks really attractive. I saw the Rolling Stones in the 60s when they performed at towns on small stages, it was at the local Mecca (the dance places of the time). Got a signed photo of Brian Jones, if only I still had it!
