These flowers do have another name but I can't remember it! I was going to wait until dark to get a good photo but then I found it was all closed up.
Its in a hanging basket outside.
Three good things:
1. A grandson arriving for a good visit and a pizza lunch outside in a new Beer Garden down at the Harbour.
2. He brought a bottle of red wine from the Napa Valley when he was there.
3. The guys have dug a trench outside, laid the fibre broadband cable, covered it up again and worked till 9pm!
It closes up..so is that why it is called "Johnny go to bed?" We have a flower here called "Johnny in the pulpit." Do you have those? It is a lower level shaped like a cup, then a pistil I guess in the middle that is Johnny..and then a petal coming up and over the top of that pistil like an enclosed pulpit.
We have had an ongoing conversation with Vodafone. Wayne finally emailed CEO after a month of no sense from staff. Next thing Wayne has 5 staff following it up. They have now rectified account and we are getting fibre broadband but we have to be home on a certain day with a new modem...waiting...um Wayne is back on email again as news to us.😋
@andreajoy We are working with Telecom and Chorus on ours. But John has to continually try and get answers or commitment from them! We thought they would be in today to connect the cables up within the house but no activity whatsoever!
@olivetreeann oh yep!!!! JACK in the pulpit! I knew johnny did not sound right. And they do look like a pulpit with a preacher. I have this vivid memory of walking in the woods and finding one and my mom telling me all about them. Sweet memory
Instant fav on this creative composition. You nailed this one spot on! FAV! Re #2 -My daughter brought us back a bottle of wine from Sonoma Valley when they were there. We can toast each other sometime ;-)
Lovely shot, Maggie. Such a pretty and vibrant flower. So glad you had a nice visit with your grandson. I hope that the wine was good. And great that the men worked all day for your broadband! Sounds like a very eventful day!
@espyetta It's called a Jack-in-the-Pulpit because it looks like the old raised lectionaries the clergy would read the Scriptures from. Here's a couple shots of some from my project-
