Who countest the steps of the sun;
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the traveller's journey is done;
Where the Youth pined away with desire,
And the pale virgin shrouded in snow,
Arise from their graves, and aspire
Where my Sunflower wishes to go!
William Blake :
Three good things:
1 There were acres and acres of these sunflowers!
2. Did 18.6km on Ruby to this field and way down to the sea and round back to home.
3. Watched a documentary on the siege in Sydney that happened on 15th Dec. Riveting!
Memories of Donovan! Beautiful composition. FAV
Couldn't pull up the remainder of your description. Wondering if he wrote or , some other poet whose name I should probably know???
Love those concentrical seeds - shades of Van Gogh. And the Blake poem is perfect. Good to hear about your adventures with Ruby - you are certainly making the most of summer.
@bkbinthecity Thanks Mr B for your friendly connection - I have made a point of keeping my connections to very close friends and family, the last of who add up to over 50!
Great shot, Maggie Love the sunflower! I can feel it radiating the warmth through the photo! Thank you so much for that, Maggie! :) I can't wait until we get ours blooming. What was the name of the documentary? I'm a history buff and would love to check it out.
Beautiful sunflower capture.....what a joy it must be to see acres and acres of them, all turned towards the sun! Someday I will photograph a field of sunflowers, or lavenders in the south of France! In the meantime, I am planning for the Ranunculus fields that are planted every year not too far from us. I missed it last year due to our construction mess, but it is definitely on my list of things to be photographed this year!
