Trying out various apertures and shutter speeds. My camera only goes up to f8 but seems to be OK. I was in the bushes looking up to the house and it was very bright with warm sun. I have also discovered that with some settings on my camera, the camera info is lost and so doesn't appear here.
Three good things:
1. Fun with Faceinhole using John's photo - Made him a 'Richard Gere', Elvis, a bearded Eastern man, and a rather nice guy with a gorgeous body!
2. A day where I spilt things, dropped things, and had to pick up lots. With a bad back it is rather annoying until I took some painkillers and it all got better!
3. Another try at panning which didn't work but the inclination to keep trying is good.
You are trying aperture & stuff too.....I had a look on the link that @busybeame told me about but I am too thick to take it in.....I think I should practice more then I might get the hang of it! You are getting very competent! Lucky John, a new body with no hassle! Lovely house & verandah.....love sitting out there!
I love how you're trying out all these things with your photography, Maggiemae. Learning is good.... always! And I love this view of your property - especially all that lavender you've got growing. Must smell great! Mmm
Perfect exposure in the bright light Maggie. @happypat I can recommend 'The Busy Girl's Guide to Digital Photography'. Tells you what you need to know without boring the pants off you. (Well it did me!)
@rob257 Thanks Rob! Thats interesting because when I looked to buy a new camera, I wanted one that at least went up to f22! But this one seemed to tick all the boxes and limits the f stop to 8!
@judithg I have read the sample on Kindle ...I might just send for it.....I would think its a book you have to have in your actual hands for the diagrams? Quite expensive, the cheapest is WHSmith at £17 I think. Looks like it might shove me over to manual.....perhaps!
@grammyn Fortunately Katy there is a high corregated iron fence between us and our neighbours! One of the reasons I wanted to grow lots of tall bushes against that rather ugly fence!
This turned out really well, Maggiemae. I love the sunshine. You are ahead of me. I am still on Auto and changing a few settings. Sorry about your back. Hope it heals up fast.
So nice to see a house in this beautiful summer light. love the reflection in the windows and door. the trees make a great frame too. so that is what summer looks like. come and see my picture of returning home to a bitter cold winter.
I like the inside-outside views of your kitchen -- what an inviting place! I'm obsessed with kitchens at the moment as we have to decide on what goes into the reconstruction of ours.
@taffy If you look at the inside view of the kitchen, Taffy, you will see a curved tap. This is our boiling tap and invaluable! Most people don't seem to know about it!
Beautifully framed shot! Did you find the dandelion under that porch? Love that table seating out on the deck, but it sure makes me nervous that somebody is going to get up after a few glasses of wine and fall backwards! ;-))
@panthora Yes the dandelion was under those steps. We used to have a friend who after too many red wines did this no matter where she was but she no longer lives near. I think we would shift the table closer to the wall if we had guests sitting out here with wine!
My camera also has a limited amount of fstops (according to the fellow who was teaching me a little bit more about the AV setting the other night). So much to learn! Your home looks lovely!
Have never heard of faceinhole! must check it out now :)
