Founded in 1867

Starting life as a steam-driven flour mill in 1867, the Crown Roller Mills continued expanding floors until 1890 when it reached 5 floors. It has since been lovingly transformed into Luxury apartments and a Restaurant, Bar& Function Centre.

Right opposite of where we picked up our new car, Sadie (not the cleaning lady). Its like driving a computer robot! But I can’t work out how to play a CD!

Three good things;
1. I had a bone scan for density today and am the same height as I was 4 years ago! Means my backbone hasn’t deteriorated. Results after a while. Shoulders back, head up!
2. The most delicious riesling from Cromwell, Central Otago for lunch.
3. Hot temperatures on the East Coast of NZ in the south - up to 29deg -84 degF - in the middle of May!
How great that this old building has been restored and saved. Nice shot of it and lots red and bright tones too.

Beautiful building - lovely processing!! Good news re the bone scan. I had one years ago when I was at work - I think they came to the Bank and did lots of people. Anyway the woman said to me it was unlikely I would have problems as big people normally had big healthy bones!! Flipping cheek!! I hoped she was referring to my height of 5'9" and not my weight!! LOL!!

@pamknowler She could have said, "tall people"! Its all in the genes, I think!

Great shot and history...great processing

Love the colors and you composed the shot very well.

So glad to hear it has been reinvented and put to such good use that so many can enjoy it! Lovely architecture. Your new auto sounds fun...does it drive itself? Not sure I would like that!

Beautiful shot. I hope you can learn how to use the CD player.

Wonderful warm tones. Beautiful.

@daisymiller I've tried to read the manual but I think you need a manual to read the manual!

Striking structure and bold colour scheme

Beautiful shot with great lighting. So good when these interesting buildings are preserved and used. Great news about your scan you must be pleased. We had a hire car not long ago, ours was in for repair to the damage caused by a dustbin lorry backing into it! The hire car was amazing more like a flight deck than a car. I couldn't even find the CD player let alone work it and you don't get a handbook with a hire car

@thistle I put a cd into the CD slot and it was never seen again! Can't get it out, can't listen to it!

@sangwann You are on the other side of the world, though, Dione! Hot on both sides! I'm looking forward to the cooler temperatures!

Love the colours.
May 7th, 2015
I love the colors and the way your textured sky makes those buildings look like a flat painting.
May 7th, 2015
Love your processing, and old roller mills, might hit 80f here today on the other side of the world!! Glad to see this building still in use!!
May 7th, 2015
Love these old buildings! Nice comp!
May 7th, 2015
This looks like a timless print from a history book! Nicely done!
May 7th, 2015
Amazing colour on that building, great history and I like your three things every day :)

Very hot .....we never have it that hot even in high summer! You got your car......it takes ages to get used to all the gadgetry I know but in the mean time has it parked itself? As for the Landrover sport launch it sounds great, the sort of thing that Harry would like. William has bought a silver Defender, we wanted a black one but they are so strict on emissions on vehicles entering the country. He is now having the silver one which is newer with six gears but not as high a speck. Stil cheaper to import than buy over at your end.

Beautifully striking picture ...the colours are so rich!

@happypat Yes, we did think of coming to Germany and buying the Merc there then shipping it out - but this car was too good to pass by!

I love the light, the intense colours, and the processing here, fav. This was founded in the same year as Canada was; our Confederation took place in 1867.

A lovely building - so nice to see it preserved and used.

I don't know why this reminds me of a lovely cross-stitch. It would also make a great jigsaw puzzle.
