The Plank by maggiemae

The Plank

A number of my 365 friends wanted to see me suffer with this planking exercise on the floor. Here I am with a bit of creative processing! Looking at this photo, my elbows should actually be perpendicular to my shoulders!

This should look good in the black!

Three good things:
1. John and I had a FaceTime conversation in bed this morning! Then a notice came up saying “Poor connection” - probably right - we should just talk without our computers!
2. Found a cheese made in Oamaru that was saffron infused Manchego (Spanish) cheese! Wow - it’s smooth and has a bite!
3. An astute guy, Richard ( @chard ) said if I it do The Plank 20secs for 4 days that almost equals the ultimate goal of 2 mins! … supposed to be a day! Well now I can do 30 secs!
ps… John was very good for the first few days - got up to 1 minute but now he thinks he’s got some muscle damage - so be careful!
ugh; I have just come back from yoga and we did too many of those. Feeling stiff already.

You are cool and strong, Maggiemae. I did a plank selfie, but a side plank.
July 13th, 2015
I love the strength this shows. Sadly, I would be stuck down there until a hoist was found.
July 13th, 2015
@pandorasecho I am still like that Dixie - have to push myself up using a hand!
July 13th, 2015
@amandal When did you do that, Amanda - can't see one in your present photos?
July 13th, 2015
@callymazoo Yoga is not for me - too much dedication! I like the 20 - 30 secs exercises!
July 13th, 2015
Well done you Maggiemae -- but sadly I am with Dixie @pandorasecho And would still be down there without a hoist to get me up !!
July 13th, 2015
I used to do the plank at yoga & fancied I did it quite well but never tried for about three years. I am that knackered at the moment I am not even going to try.........next week perhaps! Well done maggiemae, I can see a perfect line! Love the face time bit! Harry lost his mobile phone yesterday & we hunted high & low....he found it in his dressing gown pocket in the middle of the night!
July 13th, 2015
@happypat It is a bit of a killer exercise but you get stronger doing it and its only a very short time you hold it! I can imagine Harry thinking and thinking in the middle of the night - lol!

Bep
Chapeau, Maggiemae! Well done.
July 13th, 2015
nice processing; for exercise, I'll stick to walking :)
July 13th, 2015
You're doing well, not perfect but good. It's easy to comment when you are not doing it!
July 13th, 2015
@kelly2 Thanks Irene - glad I can still do this at my age!
July 13th, 2015
Good on you, I couldn't keep it going to 1min;) If you put a tablet on floor with movies playing, may keep you stay longer. Great shot!
July 13th, 2015
Ah, good for you. Not an easy exercise. I do them too and sometime have a contest with my nieces and nephews. They hold it over 5 minutes! I'm usually shaking by 1.5 min and out by 2!
July 13th, 2015
@tigerkat61 What a good idea! - maybe there are 1 minute movies!
July 14th, 2015
Oh fabulous! I'll have to investigate this processing!
July 14th, 2015
Good processing and shot
July 14th, 2015
Awesome shot
July 14th, 2015
Bravo, dear girl! Exceedingly impressed with your prowess! Also with your processing on this image!!
July 14th, 2015
Cool processing! Great idea!
July 14th, 2015
Looks painful. Cool processing though! :)
July 14th, 2015
@grammyn It's all a bit of fun, Katy as well as getting some exercise without going outside!
July 14th, 2015
Impressive! Good for you... I think it will pay off for you, too. The processing is super. Colorful, lots of powerful pop and suitably vague. :)
July 14th, 2015
Well I hope it wasn't too painful
July 14th, 2015
looking good, maggiemae! i get bored with the plank so i just do 30 sit ups and 20 push ups every morning, when i don't forget!
July 14th, 2015
@rosiekerr I do like those words, Rosie - suitably vague - that suits me down to the ground!
July 14th, 2015
@summerfield But you are much younger than me Vikki! Its too cold to bike or walk outside so I'm quite happy planking away!
July 14th, 2015
I could never do that! My arthritic joints would be screaming at me the whole time!! You're awesome!
July 14th, 2015
Bev
Great shot, Maggie. I know idea what planking is! From the looks of it, I don't think my doctors would permit me to do this type of exercise as I have shoulder and nerve and muscle issues. Kudos to you for doing it! You are amazing! So is it supposed to cause weight loss?
July 14th, 2015
Go you! I don't think I could do that!
July 14th, 2015
Look at you! Great stuff. I don't think I could manage that, well maybe with some practice but not right now.
July 14th, 2015
@prttblues No, not for you Bev - I think gentle exercise like raising your camera to your eye is good enough, though one never knows!
July 14th, 2015
@pixiemac I think everyone can do it but not for long the first try, Sarah!
July 14th, 2015
@kiwichick practice only involves a few secs at a time, though!
July 14th, 2015
Impressive, Maggie! I'll just try it now……… phew!… worked best when I squeezed in my core abdomen muscles. Couldn't fire the remote at the same time though! Crazy processing.. I like it …. and I love Manchego!
July 14th, 2015
Such intriguing processing! Very creative.
July 14th, 2015
Clever processing.
July 14th, 2015
Wow maggie this is impressive. Both the plank and the processing. I shall have ti try it's my sort of exercise doesn't take too long!
July 14th, 2015
Wow, Maggie, you're a marvel. Great shot and processing.
July 14th, 2015
good for you!
July 14th, 2015
@yrhenwr Thats what it is so good for David - core strength! I've never known Manchego and the saffron is superb with it1
July 14th, 2015
@thistle Thats why I like it, Joyce - now I'm doing it 3 times a day.
July 14th, 2015
LOL-good for you! it is so worthwhile too. Interesting processing
July 14th, 2015
That was part of our physical training when I played football (soccer). Not sure if I can do it today.
July 14th, 2015
Wonderfully strong
July 14th, 2015
Love your processing. I've to make sure my hubby is home when I try it. would be afraid I don't get back up.
July 14th, 2015
Great shot, processing
July 14th, 2015
Great processing.
July 14th, 2015
Great form! Planking is hard! At my best I could go 2 mins but today I'd be shaking after 1 min. My 69 year old mother planked for 6 minutes about 5 years ago. She's the strongest person I know.
July 14th, 2015
nicely planked Maggie
July 14th, 2015
Great processing. Not sure whether I want to try this.
July 15th, 2015
Ha! good on you for giving it a go. I am tempted to try it as I am having a lot of back ache lately but I might never get up again. Effective processing.
July 15th, 2015
@snaphappi After this exercise the next move is to collapse on the ground and wait for partner to arrive with a glass of wine!
July 15th, 2015
LOL! Great rendition
July 15th, 2015
Very impressive. If I got down there I'd have a lot of trouble getting back up again and I certainly couldn't manage the bit in between! Cool processing and great pov too.
July 15th, 2015
Ok, you've inspired me - down to the floor I go... one thing is for sure, it'll be awhile before I work up to a decent time.
July 16th, 2015
@mccarth1 Good for you Kerry! You will find that you can only do what you can and gradually you can do just a few more seconds!
July 16th, 2015
You are doing great, Maggiemae!! Wonderful form, very straight, I am sure the elbows are now right below the shoulders, and once you get stronger you might want to start alternating by taking one of the legs off the ground!! Yeah, right!! ;-))))
July 16th, 2015
I'm impressed (and a bit abashed at my laziness with regards to matters of yoga etc.)
July 16th, 2015
So funny, you are a hoot! I am even more impressed now, it's very hard to hold the line.
July 16th, 2015
Good job Maggiemae, both with the plank and the processing!
July 17th, 2015
Holy smokes! That looks difficult. I think I said I would try it...but I think I'll let you do it for me! hahahaha!!
