Eyes in the night by maggiemae

Eyes in the night

It started out as a potential B&W and I thought what would black on black turn out like - you know, the opposite of white on white which results in beautiful photos from some people!
My little black owl, however stood fast with his golden eyes and dared me to turn him B&W! Good on the black.

Three good things:
1. I just love humorous comments - take note all those followers who are just polite! Say what first comes into your mind - I do!
2. Watching some beautiful cloud formations change so quickly at sunset, we thought we should complain - I said, to who - and the answer had to be He who Organises Everything!
3. A skype to two exhausted ‘older first parents”, our son and DIL in Canada. We were taken into the hallowed room where she sleeps under strict instructions not to TALK! John couldn’t help himself - he softly said, Oh bebe bebe!
Very atmospheric.

The eyes have it! My first thought was WHO?

@olivetreeann To whit to whooo!

He's a cute little owl, and I like the fact that you let him keep his golden eyes. I'm also glad you get to see your new granddaughter through Skype. My oldest, and still one of my very best friends has a grandson (the first grandchild) expected in Madrid, Spain, next month. They will be going there for bit, but I know Skype will be heavily used before and after the visit.

This is one of those fake owls to keep the birds away, yes? The other night (early evening) I was out walking the dog and heard hooting. I so wanted to see the owl. LOVE them!!! Haven't seen many in the wild. Maybe only 2.

Quite spooky ! those eyes !!!!!
September 15th, 2015
@amandal Its a little ornament, Amanda, about 2 inches high! Only good for throwing at birds to keep them away!

One of the first lessons new parents should learn is to make as much noise as they like around the new baby. When we visited our new grandson five years ago,it was a nightmare as we had to be really quiet......everything was sh sh ! The last one sleeps through any noise at all which is a relief to all concerned! Good job they don't read your page!! Ha ha! Is this a real owl or one with solar eyes?
September 15th, 2015
@maggiemae Go away...toss. That's funny!:)
September 15th, 2015
@happypat I do agree but they are new parents - and you can understand that when the baby is sleeping they can breath a sigh of relief and don't want it to wake up!. Not a real owl but a tiny ornament. I used the camera settings to turn it into night!

The golden eyes almost make this little guy look alive. Ah, new parents. It was hard but rewarding. :)
September 15th, 2015
@maggiemae On I remember it well, the listening for the breathing.......I thought your little owl looked a bit stiff!
September 15th, 2015
Cool shot...those are do glow...looks great on black
September 15th, 2015
I think his bright little eyes are a lovely. Selective coloring?
September 15th, 2015
Love the mysterious look to this.
September 15th, 2015
@skstein No, it wasn't Sandy! I turned it into night with camera settings and then just brightened the eyes a bit. The Owl look!
September 15th, 2015
they look a little scary maggie
September 15th, 2015
Perfect on black!

#2 I'm not sure I would be telling Him how to run his universe! ;~}
September 15th, 2015
@grammyn Maybe we could ask for those clouds not to disappear so quickly?
September 15th, 2015
@maggiemae My dear. you can ask for anything but to complain is ...............well let's just say I wouldn't! ;~}
September 15th, 2015
Looks,a bit scary sitting there waiting to pounce on it's prey! Very clever turning the day into night! Skype is wonderful to be able to talk to your overseas family and at least see them - even if you do have to whisper!
September 15th, 2015
Nice shot. Those eyes are great.
September 15th, 2015
@grammyn You are right, Katy - and nothing can change nature!
September 16th, 2015
Well done....very cool!
September 16th, 2015
When you see the owl on black more of the details show and it looks real with those shiny eyes. fav.
September 16th, 2015
This does look exceptional on the black background ...but the owl still looks a little "alien"!
September 16th, 2015
Is this your night light for going to the loo? Did I hear the scream?
September 16th, 2015
Great on black! Quite a spooky effect.
September 16th, 2015
My opinion is that this would not look as good in B/W!! I love those spooky eyes and he almost looks blue on the black!! Perfect for Halloween!!! I nearly always say what I first think and sometimes I get in trouble for it!! LOL Oh bebe!!! How cute!! FAV!!
September 16th, 2015
Those eyes are quite eerie. He's certainly keeping a beady eye on happenings!
September 16th, 2015
@yaorenliu What an excellent idea - no, this little fellow is only 2 inches high and sits on a shelf staring all day!
September 16th, 2015
I love the photograph - everything about it
September 16th, 2015
Hooo Hooo! That's what came into my mind. LOL
September 16th, 2015
Love how you did this. The eyes are stunning.
September 16th, 2015
Haha! Looks great staring out of the dark.
September 16th, 2015
Great capture Maggie.
September 16th, 2015
Lee
Good little eye reflection.
September 16th, 2015
and i thought maybe it was the maltese falcon.
September 16th, 2015
Bep
The eyes are amazing.
September 16th, 2015
Spooky capture, but a bit of a hoot.
September 16th, 2015
Love those lantern eyes!
September 16th, 2015
Didnt think there was a black owl so was glad to read it was a model, great shot, especially on black, and thoseeyes really stare at you
September 16th, 2015
Haha - hope the bebe didn't wake up! NIce owl but I am prejudiced against them because my neighbours had a model owl that would hoot unexpectedly at me when I went in to feed the cats. Frightened me to death repeatedly.
September 16th, 2015
@judithg I met a frog like that!
September 16th, 2015
You're right, it looks simply fab on black!
September 16th, 2015
I love the way you captured this Maggie Looks as though he needs surgery for a squint though or spectacles at the very least. I get into trouble for 'saying it as it is' which is, I think, a polite way of saying I'm lacking in tact!!
September 17th, 2015
@thistle Don't you dare stop "keep saying as it is" It shows a personality! I think I'm off tomorrow to find an owl with spectacles!
September 17th, 2015
It's excellent 0n black. The little owl really stands out xx
September 17th, 2015
Well done. Looks quite "spooky" Fav.
