Chepstow castle in South Wales. 1067 through to 1690! A huge ruin but seems very safe - people are climbing old stone steps, peering out of slits in the walls and in this case sitting on the central lawn listening to a male Welsh choir singing! What a treat!
Three good things:
1. Nearing the end of our journey and maybe soon will have more time to browse 365.
2. Losing or leaving things behind - a challenge to remain sane!
3. A good driver for our journey from South Wales to Manchester which took over 4 hours.
Great shot, Maggiemae, like the framing and the contrast between old and new. My apologies, life's been rather hectic just recently, and apart from posting I have not really been on 365 a lot. I had no idea that your round the world trip had brought you to Manchester, just up the road from me. I have been back and caught up on your travels, it sounds like you are having a great time and exploring some beautiful places. Love how you have been following in your mothers footsteps.
@markp People on 365 do tend to travel a lot, Mark! Often hard to know where the photo is unless its described in the comments! Yes that Wales trip will go down in my memory!
Beautifully framed Maggie, I have never been to Chepstow but it looks lovely! I can accociate losing & leaving things, something I did all the time on holiday in NZ this last time. I thought I was going senile!
You fly out tomorrow I see so have a fantastic last evening with Kerry & the family & safe journey to Singapore.
We fly out at 9am, Pat so its early rising! We hope to have a good night with the family (the boys have the usual problem of wanting to be on the computer instead of being with us and sulking happens with the youngest one) Lost our second iPhone now!!
I know this place so well (live about half an hour away). Love the view you've captured through the old stone walls of the castle. Did you visit the castle toilet there with the hole in the floor which just fell away down to the River Wye?
@flowerfairyann I'm glad you like this! I loved this little town of Chepstow and its incredibly old pubs and houses still standing. I've taken lots of photos as you can imagine!
I am told that some of the "Jones" blood in me is from Wales (which apparently why I like to dunk my cookies in my tea). I don't know if that's true- it's one of those branches I can't trace very well, but I like to think that the creative side of me is a result of some of those genes. Who knows! I think I'd love wandering around there- a photo at every turn. Nice shot!
