A bird shot was good to have rather than a flower shot. The birds were on a big open park and digging furiously into the grass.
I took a photo while the huge noise of trucks and cars scraped past me on the main road.
Identification proved they were South Island Pied Oystercatchers. They usually breed inland in the South Island, mainly east of the Southern Alps on riverbeds and farmland, but are also known to breed on high country grasslands, and in coastal areas adjacent to estuaries and lagoons. Not rare at all but odd to look at.
Three good things:
1. I found out how to share a video from uTube to 365. I had to make it ‘public’ before 365 would accept it. The Caravan mover one.
2. Met a man on a E Bike like mine at the supermarket. I think they are becoming more popular.
3. Olive oil is good for you - but not when its cooked.
Nice bird. We know it as 'schol-ekster'. 'ekster' = magpie. Don't know the meaning of 'schol'. Sorry, I don't want to give an impression of a teacher...
Great shot...as for #3 I only use olive oil on the stove for popcorn, but it's important to pop the corn from start to finish on medium heat. Olive oil is not good at high heat.
I've been away last Friday and Saturday visiting our first great grandchild, 5 hour drive, but it was well worth it holding him in my arms.
catching up with your pictures I've missed. interesting looking bird with his red legs and that long red bill.
