In a place called Makarora which has a huge river with flat land on either side and high mountains soaring up to the sky, we camped. Right by a cafe. It was hot and our cold glass of wine was welcome as we sat outside and viewed this scene.
Three good things;
1. Sun all the way through the Haast Pass which has a reputation of drenching rain all the time!
2. Lunch at a picnic spot called Pleasant Flat - and it was.
3. Surrounded by Germans over the past few days but heard a new Manchesterian accent from one male traveller.
