Riding by maggiemae

Riding

At my son's house and these two parents were able to go on a motorbike ride while we looked after granddaughter who was actually asleep most of the time and no problem!

Three good things;
1. Parents don't want Sabrina to look at screens on computers etc so I can't look at 365 when she is around - pretty much always as she loves to see the pictures!
2. There are plenty of cupboards here to hide in and use my computer!
3. The blue jays are very noisy but I'm going to get a photo - squirrels abound also!
I couldn't imagine you hiding in the cupboards just to use the computer!! I guess you'll have to spend your babysitting time taking photos instead of looking at them :) How nice for the parents to be able to get out for a ride!

So great of you guys to be there to let them enjoy the ride. I'm sure they treasured that moment.

Great b&w shot...#2 made me laugh out loud when envisioning you tucked away somewhere looking at your computer :).

Lol! Hope you enjoy your cubby hole time :) Lovely shot. Nice in the b/w

Fun to see the family tradition continuing.

@taffy He's the only one that rides, Taffy but he's always saying, "do you think Grandad would be proud of me"!

@kiwichick Bit nervous about taking too many photos too, Lesley! They don't take many of Sabrina. Still there are squirrels and birds even ants!

Bep
I'm sure you like your babysitting time!

A nice black and white image , the thought of you hiding in a cupboard or out of sight put a smile on my dial

I am still thinking which I would rather do, thought about,,,,bike wins.
June 8th, 2017
Grandmothers can take photos of their grandchildren, that is an unwritten rule. 😊
June 8th, 2017
@louannwarren thank you Lou Ann you give me courage!

@peterday goes without saying!

The camera is not always a welcome sight in families! I think when Sabrina has grown older they will be glad of every single photo you took! I always think a photo taking granny is such a treasure, taking all these pictures of the little darlings that mum & dad haven't time to take! Carry on regardless! They must have so enjoyed their freedom, hope you spent the evening taking photos & looking at 365!!!!!

@happypat too tired when in bed, Pat! I have to look at 365 in middle of the day nap! I think I will take more photos now I have got encouragement!

Nicely captured

Great photo! They look like they're going to ride into the future. I absolutely agree with Lou Ann. Grandparenthood gives one the privilege of taking photos of grandchildren over parent "rules" as long as you're not completely overriding the parent's wishes- within reason. Betsy and Christopher are not keen on Isaac and Micah spending too much time looking at my ipad (special games for grandchildren and pictures on there) but when they want to come and wake you up in the early AM, I say "let the games begin!" so I can wake up more slowly while they entertain themselves! I'm sure you will not overstep your bounds, but take those pictures to remember the visit by, by all means.

As for #3 put out some peanuts- you'll have more jays and squirrels than you know what to do with!

@olivetreeann Nice to read your input, Ann! I applaud the parents for trying but unless things change radically when they get to school they will feel outcasts. Everyone will have an iPad!

So great captured!!!! Enjoy your games with a little princess !!! It's gold time together

@maggiemae My older son and his wife started out with the no TV, video, etc. rule. They held steady with child #1 but after a few years in school and the event of child #3, they've changed their tune! Still no TV but they get programs on Netflix and watch movies on it for family fun night. The younger son and his wife also had no TV for some time, but it came with their internet connection in the new home, so for the time being they have it but the grands are only allowed to watch 1 program a day. Their older son is the only one in school right now. He seems pretty savvy about what the other kids watch, but isn't showing any signs of feeling like he's missing something. So, I think most kids are ok with it. Time will tell.

@olivetreeann This sounds like they have strong and caring parents and can cope with not being the same as everyone else. Good to hear!

looks good in mono maggie

Nice shot done well in B&W. Good to know the family tradition carries on. We need a selfie of you in hiding toview 365!
June 9th, 2017
@grammyn How can I do that - I have to close the door!
June 9th, 2017
@maggiemae you could be peeking out the door!
June 9th, 2017
@grammyn I'm ok at the moment - Sabrina has gone to bed! Catching up on everything!

A real feeling of movement here!

I like this in black and white. Nice photo. I hope they had a great ride.

Cool photo. I have had the same dilemma regarding photos of grandkids so I always check before posting any on 365. A private page on FB helps us share photos which is especially important when they live on the other side of the world. Our 2 year old Swedish grandson now knows us when we talk on FaceTime since we spent time with them last year.
I had to laugh when I envisaged you in a cupboard for 365! The things we do. LOL
June 9th, 2017
@kiwinanna Yes, we have a private page too which Mother Amy has said I can post photos on as there are heaps of family all waiting for photos!

Great capture - of what is probably a rare treat - with a young child. Enjoy your time with your grandaughter - and hiding in cupboards
June 10th, 2017
Very nice capture, has a great air of mystery. As I have no children I have no idea how I would handle things like tv and iPads. Most of my friends who have kids and grandkids seem to be okay with the youngsters having access to technology.
June 11th, 2017
@salza But I'm sure you have ideas and thoughts, Sally!
June 11th, 2017
@maggiemae indeed! I believe that tv, iPads and computers have a place. Being married to someone who is at the pinnacle of technology I understand how powerful it is but we both love the bush and being off the grid. A happy medium can be reached.
June 11th, 2017
@salza Interesting to hear what you say - hubby is the same - but still plays games endlessly! I've given up!
June 11th, 2017
Being back in the hotseat of full-time parenthood to the two toddler grandbabies, I can ASSURE you that they LOVED their moment of freedom that you guys provided!!! DO IT AGAIN! DO IT AGAIN!!! :-)
June 17th, 2017
@shesnapped You are full time grand parents? Wow - good luck!
