One of my favourite children’s books was the series, “Flower Fairies of Autumn” …also winter, summer and spring. By Cicely Mary Barker - poems and illustrations by her.
This one comes from Spring.
To this picture, I added some real daisies and the grass where the daisies grew!
Three Good Things:
1. We followed the journey of some close friends who were on a stricken cruise boat just off the Cape Cod coast! The engine got finally restarted and we still followed them on the web site ‘www.marinetraffic .com! They eventually docked safely in New Yorkl
2. Watched the epic tale of a NZer who was stuck in Joshua Tree Park : Two distinct desert ecosystems, the Mojave and the Colorado, come together in Joshua Tree National Park. We were there last year - never wandered off the road! She survived after some days not being able to move with a shattered pelvis. She ended up drinking her own urine! Not a good idea but she was found.
3. Found some yoghurt (NZ made) that was gluten free, dairy free and egg free plus sugar free!
I so remember these Flower Fairy books, Autumn, Spring Summer & I suppose there must have been a winter one but I don't actually remember that one plus are there enough flowers to fill a book for winter? A miracle that poor woman was found....a narrow escape for all your adventurers today!
Your daisies and grass mix in very well- I think the fairy is pleased. Glad your friends made it to NY harbor safely- although it seems to me there were some closer ports to Cape Cod than that! #2 Yikes- a shattered pelvis sounds excruciatingly painful. Glad she was found. I have heard about a number of people who survived that way. #3 sounds hardly edible!
Who is the clever photographer now to add real elements to a picture for a photograph?!
How harrowing to follow friends in distress on the high seas!
I have heard of others doing the same when stranded in the desert. Hard to imagine when safely at home reading about it though.
Yay for the culinary find!
Very clever image, it looks wonderful. Sounds like you have some very adventurous friends!! Good to hear that all ended well though. As for that 'yoghurt', my mind boggleth!
they don't make drawings like this anymore, do they? the enhancements you made made it doubly attractive. aces!
i am lactose intolerant but i still prefer to eat the real ice cream rather than the non-lactose. i just have to make sure i am home when i do. hard to travel when you have all these dietary restrictions. hope all is well though.
@maggiemae - it is rather problematic. i don't eat meat, but people would always tell m they have chicken. or one restaurant gave me beef broth soup telling me there's no meat in it (of course there's no meat as it was just broth hahaha!). toronto rather has a lot of good restaurants that cater to a diner's dietary requirements, but i still come across the odd ones who are still not in the know. but although i don't eat meat, i am open to the fact that majority of people still eat meat and that's just fine by me. no, you won't see me protesting or preaching and asking people to change their lifestyle.

Hear! Hear! :-) I won't willingly part with books, either. But I didn't start taking care of them till I was in my teens... :-/
