Wandering through the hothouse in the Oamaru Public Gardens, there were no labels on these plants but a lot deserved a photograph! This is one which might trigger someone’s knowledge!
Good on the Black
Three Good Things:
I made a huge bowl of ‘what I call” (Miranda) cole slaw. My slicing machine made short work of raw cabbage, carrot, NZ cheese, nuts, dried apricot morsels, apples and raisins.
2 A cloudless blue sky this morning after a cold and snowy front worked its way through.
3. Planted a new plant called a Heuchera - good to learn about on google.
A beautiful flower with its variation of colours - I am pretty sure it is one of the bromeliad plants Maggie we only have them as an indoor pot plant here in the UK !
It looks like some kind of a Bromeliad I am not sure exactly which one it is. Whatever it is it is stunningly gorgeous! As always your food sounds good
@beryl Yep I would say Beryl is correct looks like a Bromeliad... lots of different ones and some of the flowers are quite different .. Pineapple are in this family .. Thankyou Bab @onewing I have my Mum to thank for my plant knowledge ... it is surprising what sticks with you...
We can grow Broms in our gardens up here Maggie but may get too cold where you are and probably do need a glass house to grow..
@julzmaioro I think there were lots of types of Bromeliads here in the hothouse, Julia! Some of them seemed to grow quite high but this one was almost flat!
This glows so much... a starling star in the darker corners of the glass house, so much knowledge about flowers & plants on this site! Do you bind your coleslaw with anything. I could see the ingredients would be so tasty all together but is it quite dryish. Normally coleslaw has mayonnaise to bind it & make it creamy.
I am hopeless at identifying flowers but fellow new Zealander Julia @julzmaioro could be able to identify it for you.
