Coriander by maggiemae

Coriander

Finished that good Welsh history book and applauded the author. What to do….! I noticed the coriander that I had planted by seed had produced a flower. Tried to focus and after a number of ineffectual efforts realised my camera’s battery was weak. These flowers are so tiny - each about 2mm!
Three Good Things:
1. Coriander (fresh) is good in anything! Particularly in sandwiches.
2. Corn done in its husk in the microwave is just the best!
3. John got some Red King new potatoes from the garden and boy, they are so good. Just with fresh mint, no butter!
Coriander is my favourite herb. I love cooking with it and especially love it in salad.....Your lovely picture makes it look to nice to eat!

Lovely sunny shot. Save the seeds to dry for cooking!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond I'll have to investigate this plant to see if I can identify the seeds, thanks Jackie!

Coriander is beautiful and tasty! I especially like it in salsa ...but in my climate it is a cool-weather crop.

So delicate and I really like the shadows they've cast on the leaves below - nice shot.

Not good to let herbs flower - they rob the herb of some of it's savour... they are pretty though!
January 20th, 2019
@vignouse You are right, Richard - I'm always cutting off the 'flowers' on parsley!

sucha beautiful flower. I just used some today for my photo but it was NOT the fresh kind!

What beautiful sweet flowers! I need to try fixing corn in the microwave, I’ve heard it’s easy and the corn is good.

I love coriander too but it frustrates me how fast it goes to flower
January 21st, 2019
Like you I love coriander in lots of things, and also grow it at home. Like Jane, @jgpittenger I do get very frustrated at its propensity to bolt. Good work with the flower, I know how small they are.

@vignouse You're right, of course, but I always let some plants in each herb bed do their whole thing so they can self-seed. Works well.

Love the light and vivid colours.

Thanks for the cooking tips Maggie! I will try both Coriander and the corn in the microwave.
January 21st, 2019
P.S. Do you wrap the corn in paper towels or saran wrap? Or just throw them in the microwave?

@joysfocus Just put the whole cob into the microwave and try medium for about 5 - 7 minutes. Unwrap and taste the excellence!
