Almost unknown

Two colours within one flower! Often happens - roses, rhododendrons, etc but this one seems to have layers of colour. I have no idea what this plant is having discovered it walking round the block at one backyard.

kalanchoe porphyrocalyx. might be the right botanical name but I’m sure they have a common name!
Thankful for:
I’m nervous to admit that Judge Rinder is one of my favourite programs. It's learning about other peoples’ lives and it’s generally not good. But common.
These look so delicate and pretty!

That's very pretty

They are beautiful! Here we are intrigued by the National Geographic series on the Texas/Mexico border drug running. Amazing how ingenious the drug cartel is, bringing drugs into America at our border crossings, in cars and personal and commercial trucks.

This is a Correa, Aussie native. I have a variety of them in the garden. Nice shot.

I see them growing wild in bushland near here but I had no idea what they were called until Wylie identified them.

@marlboromaam The iPhone is very good with the Portrait setting, Maggie!
May 19th, 2020
@louannwarren I hope they are not still doing that! Didn't Trump put up a big wall?
May 19th, 2020
@maggiemae I’m up to almost ten stone now....I used to be 9 & a half.
May 19th, 2020
@happypat I'm not even going to think about converting stones to kg!

Lovely capture. The colours remind me of a striped sweet - I think it is called rhubarb and custard (the sweet - not the flower)
May 19th, 2020
@helenhall The colours would be the same as rhubarb and custard which go so well together!

@maggiemae these shows are focused on the bridges over the Rio Grande River that runs between Texas and Mexico. They are huge paved roads and bridges. Our border patrol checks cars and trucks coming into Texas. They find all manner of drugs but of course they don’t catch every single car that has drugs in it. The wall is being built on the land that’s not by the bridges, from bridge to bridge, so yo speak. People from Mexico swim across the river and walk into Texas, again, the border patrol catches a lot of them and sends them back to Mexico. They also miss a lot of the walkers, the border is so long, Mexico borders Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

@louannwarren Some of these renegades must have very short lives!
May 20th, 2020
It is a beautiful photo and flower but I wasn't about to guess as so many of your flowers are unknown to me in this country
May 20th, 2020
@grammyn I think we have to thank Australia for many of our flower species! Even Gorse was invited to join NZ hills unfortunately!
May 20th, 2020
That's a really appealing color combo. And a terrific iPhone capture too!
May 20th, 2020
Such a lovely flower, love your capture...we have it here too, but, didn't know the name ..thanks to Wylie for that
May 20th, 2020
The flowers look like a variety of corea, but dunno about the leaves.
May 20th, 2020
@golftragic You are in the right place, Marnie - heard from @pusspup Wylie - Australian and the word is correa!
