Again, a whole lot of bracketing, zooming, etc. But, my "pure black" is still there in the shadows of the earrings and the mask is washing into the white foreground on the left! Woo hoo! Wish the composition was a little better but, next time! Now back to black on black for the same effect!
I love how the mask is "washing into the foreground!" That's what it's supposed to do . . right? Love watching this processs . . however the more that I see this, the more I realize that it's really difficult. Did you take lots of photography classes .. I need to take a few. And soon!! :)
@karenann That's what it's supposed to do, yes ma'am! You have to "zone out" most of the grays to get this effect. Now that I understand it a little bit better, I hope I can do much better with it.
I took four classes way back in college and one was for color slides. The other three were in black and white photography and one of those was 35mm. There was lab work required for each class. But you can learn a whole lot just by reading what's on the web and experimenting, Karen. Plus you don't have the expense of film or developing with digital. So what, if it doesn't work the first time?! Just experiment and learn from it. That's what I've done.
What settings does your camera have? Mine has more than I thought it did. Pays to read the manual! LOL!
@phil_howcroft LOL! I seriously doubt that, Phil! But, I am trying to re-learn what I once learned so many years ago in college and improve my picture taking. Nothing wrong with that. =)
@hillcrest Yes! I like that! "Zoning Out" the grays on purpose for effect! =)
