I love how the leaves cup the buds. A new wildflower find for me this year. Native to the Carolinas and Georgia, commonly called Common Elephant's Foot, Upland Elephant's Foot, or Woodland Elephant's Foot. There are three wild varieties of this plant in the state so I had to be sure which one this was. A member of the aster family, more info here - http://namethatplant.net/plantdetail.shtml?plant=509 Blooms coming up. Stay tuned!
