Nichols Hall by mcsiegle

Nichols Hall

I took this photo (and another I've posted in my Alternates album http://365project.org/mcsiegle/alternates/2014-02-09) on the 7th, intending to post them on the weekend before the end of the artist challenge. Alas, I forgot. But they are not the best example of Alex Holland inspired photography, so no harm done. This is Nichols Hall on the KSU campus. See below for a link to information on the history of Nichols Hall (built in 1910 as a state of the art gymnasium), the arson fire that destroyed it in 1968 (all except the castle-like stone walls), and its rebirth -- finally rebuilt in 1983 as home to the theatre, dance, and communications studies program, as well as computing science. I learned to swim in the basement of Nichols Hall in the very early 60's -- remember walking there with my sister during the summer.

Kareen KIng @kareenking I'm sure you've spent many, many hours in Nichols Hall. When I was a KSU student my senior year of college, it was, of course, only a burned out shell. So glad they didn't raze it.
