View From the Viaduct

One last shot for my get pushed challenge for the week -- to shoot from up high looking down. Well, this is looking down and out from the pedestrian walkway on the viaduct over the Kansas River.

I took lots of shots looking straight down, trying to get a good one of the birds that were swirling around and back and forth. Almost impossible to see what I was getting looking at the screen in the outdoor light. Do you have any idea how boring they were -- brownish water with small, not-well-focused birds and their shadows on the brownish water? Should have taken video.

They were small birds, but I'm not savvy enough to know what kind.

Finally, I headed back having used up all the memory left on the memory stick, having taken sky photos (too late to do anything with them for the etsooi challenge but I've got some sky/cloud shots in reserve now), and photos from the viaduct looking down at street, RR tracks, bicycle/walking trail and finally river.

As I walked back, deleting a few just in case, I decided to put away the camera and just enjoy the scene and the birds. And I did...then as I stood and watched, one bird just hovered a few feet away from me for the longest time, as though he/she were asking to have their picture taken. Predictably, before I could get the camera back out of my purse and turned on, it flew away. Sigh.

Someday, I may try again, but clearly I need more experience and knowledge -- and probably a better camera.
@jocasta one last shot from up high.
