Taken a few days ago

The other day as I came out of work and was walking toward the parking lot, I was feeling very uninspired -- Boring! I walk that same sidewalk day after day. At that moment, I had no desire to take any photos. Not even 10 seconds later, I passed a tree with some really cool looking seed pods that hang down in great clumps. I have tried to photograph those seed pods before -- but not to my satisfaction. So it was like waving a red flag at a bull. Immediately I got motivated. Hahaha. I took a bunch of shots of the pods hanging from the tree -- with mixed success. I did learn something about how to "encourage" my camera to focus on the seed pods and not what is behind them. In order to get a more clear shot of a particular pod, I broke off what was in front of it, and laid it on the ground. Afterwards, I took a photo of what I'd broken off, lying on top of a stump adjoining the tree. And I liked that better than any of the rest of the shots. Yesterday, as I looked back through my photos for night shots for the collage challenge, I found some other photos of the same type of seed pods, from before I started 365. From the background in one it looks like it is not this tree, but a different one on campus of the same species. And there were some shots that I liked better than any of the ones I had taken recently of pods still hanging on the tree. I'm posting one that I cropped on the Oct 8th spot. http://365project.org/mcsiegle/365/2014-10-08 I don't know what kind of tree it is.
