Frank and Dan and I drove down to Wichita yesterday to my brother John's house for Thanksgiving dinner with him and his family. My other brother, Pat, and his wife and daughter also drove down. The kids had a good time together, jumping on the trampoline out back and watching cartoons on the TV. We enjoyed seeing the John's house they just moved into in August and sitting and talking. I took a lot of photos, but am disappointed with the quality of many of them. I especially have a lot to learn about how to photograph quick-moving children. Pat's wife, Jenice, also took many pictures, and she has more experience and a better camera, so what I didn't get, hopefully she did. I'm posting three pictures of John, taken in color, but converted to black and white. I like this one but, because I so often end up needing to straighten out my shots, the rotation necessary to straighten has taken off the very top of his head. Sigh. Don't laugh, but I'm thinking perhaps it's because I naturally tilt my head just a bit to one side. Unless I make a conscious effort to line up the horizontals with the edge of the frame, a certain number of shots will need straightening.
