Tuesday evening just a bit before 5:00, as I was driving to my water aerobics class on campus, the most beautiful effect appeared on the tops of trees that still had their leaves. It was as though they were lit on the top with a thousand watt spotlight. I was almost late for class, but I pulled over and took a couple pictures of one. Pretty crappy iPod pictures, but this shows the lit up effect. When I got to campus, I saw a gigantic crane they have been using on a construction project. It was all lit up too -- and the tall round chimney of the power plant. My pictures of the crane just look like a bright yellow crane. The power plant is just a bright yellow blur.
The sky was clouded over in general, but I think there was a break in the clouds off in the distance where the sun was going down and was low enough to shine that beam of light. Strangely, I didn't see sun beam or anything, just the amazing tall things lit up on their tops. I've applied an Impressionist effect here -- since it's a pretty crude image, I thought I'd try making it a bit arty.
