Coop Book Store Bldg - wider view

The get pushed challenge given to me by Lisa @homeschoolmom was to take an architecture shot from an interesting point of view. I'm not sure that is POV is interesting enough to qualify, but I'm going ahead and tagging it. I kind of liked the "Do not Enter" sign in the shot. It's really for the short one-way stretch of the street, but it seemed appropriate to this fenced off construction area. This is a wider shot of the Coop Book Store (narrow view here: http://365project.org/mcsiegle/365/2018-05-16 ) Most recently occupied by the Dusty Bookshelf bookstore, it burned last year. Here's a bit of history:

"In the 1800's the area now known as Aggieville looked quite a bit different than it does today. Houses were sparsely scattered across open acres of fields, and dirt roads provided the main pathway to campus for the 514 Kansas State Agricultural College students. Before 1898, students at the KSAC had to inconveniently purchase their textbooks downtown (this was before roads and cars). A carriage ride from campus to downtown took over 30 minutes and the walk was often muddy and wet. The college decided to build a bookstore and dining facility closer to campus, but it was shut down in 1899. That September, a group of students started the Student Co-Operative Association. This bookstore on Moro St. became the foundation of Aggieville, drawing momentum toward business development..."
This place looks so uninviting but I really like the shot.

@ingajohansson I can understand the way it looks to you in its present state. When it’s fixed back up I hope it will be easier to see the wonderful Art Deco style of facade it has. Thanks for the look and taking time to comment.

I like the rounded corner and decorative edging on the top. It's neat, too, how the name of the store is engraved in the blocks.
