Meadowlark Hills from far side of their pond

I have been intending to go up here to see if I could finally complete my get pushed challenge from Tim from a couple weeks ago. He wanted me to take a reflection picture that, when turned upside down, might fool the viewer into thinking that the reflection was the real thing and vice versa. Big Bust! I didn't realize they had put in a fountain type of thing in the middle that kept the water moving all the time. Ah well. I am at least posting this SOOC which fulfills one aspect of my current get pushed challenge. The other, to shoot something that inspires in me a sense of wonder. This might be stretching the envelope of the meaning of the word "wonder" -- more like "awe" I suppose. Meadowlark Hills -- part of which is seen across the pond, is a not-for-profit retirement community that is truly awesome. My parents moved up there in 2002 and lived first in an apartment, waiting for a duplex to become available. Then they lived in the duplex for a good many years. When my dad's health declined, he went into a health care unit up the hill (only about a block's walk) and Mom stayed in the duplex and visited him every day and twice a week brought him back for the day and back before evening. After Dad passed away my mom was still in the duplex, until she and me and my siblings began to worry about the walk in the winter up to the main building where they had many activities--the possibility of a fall. So she moved to an apartment in that building. After a couple of years she did actually fall and break a hip -- tripped on the sheets making the bed! She went into a health care household. She wanted to go back into the apartment, but the physical therapist was not convinced she had made enough progress to do that, so when a private room became available in Sloan House, that became her home for the last year and a half or so of her life. Meadowlark Hills, the continuum of levels of independence from the duplex to independent living apartments and assisted living apartments to units specially for people experiencing dementia, and the health care households -- it really does fill me with awe. The staff in Sloan House were wonderful and became more than just care givers, but friends as well.

@potsbypam Meadowlark Hills SOOC As I explained above, awe is probably a more accurate word than wonder, but I’m tagging it for your challenge anyway.

A wonderful story about this senior living center. I'm glad that the staff cared for the residents well. It's primarily because it's in their hearts because the bulk of them aren't compensated adequately for what they do. I like the POV you chose. Sorry you didn't get the "smooth as glass" water for the reflection shot you were hoping for.
