The function of this is unknown to me

On campus between Eisenhower Hall and Anderson Hall -- looks like a drain grate, but it is vertical -- one of two on one side of a concrete display board that's maybe 6 inches thick. The structure is solid on top so it's probably not for draining anything -- maybe they pipe music or other sound through it sometimes? I've never noticed. If I find out what it's for I'll update this.

Very curious but interesting. Doesn't look like it's been there too long from the lack of oxidation.
