We spent our first night at Karalee Rock and Dam campground, a beautiful bush campsite. The rocky outcrop was developed as a water catchment area for steam trains. Rock walls were built around the base of the rock, which funneled the water into an aqueduct. The aqueduct fed the water into the dam. The water was then pumped 3.6 km to the railway station. When the dam was full, the gates could be adjusted to redirect the water into the bushland.
