Tillamook Rock Lighthouse by milaniet

Tillamook Rock Lighthouse

Found one deactivated lighthouse - will be looking for more. They say this is about 1-1/2 miles off shore. Glad for the good zoom. Also saw 5 whales (wouldn't have spotted them if a guide hadn't been there to first see them) at Ecola State Park. They surfaced several times while I was watching. Way too far for a shot though.
What a great capture of this beautiful setting, it must have been quite tricky to build.

A wonderful capture. As a retired navigator, I love all lighthouses. They used to be very important navigation points, now they are being liquidated. But as you can see, they have become a refuge for birds and other animals.

So interesting how they build this initially on this rock formation. Must not have been easy. Great capture.

I do love lighthouses and wish they'd all be repurposed somehow but I guess that's not practical. Nice shot!
