This horse nettle tiny flower's name always makes me think of something coarse and rough - and they're really not. They are beginning to feel the effects of the heat though - feel like temp right now is 107 (and wasn't a whole lot better at 7 when we walked!)
The heat has been terrible. The nettles I know are stinging, and cause all manner of health problems if you touch them. Those look like thorns on the Horse Nettles, eeeek!
