I missed the dedication of this memorial two weeks ago, but this is a beautifully carved stone (will show a close up later) commemorating the passage through our area of the 5 Indian tribes during the 1830 Trail of Tears forced march from Georgia to the Oklahoma Territory. Some were forced to travel by river (the Arkansas is right behind the fencing) while others walked two routes that crossed through Ozark. The stone for the carving was brought down from north of town near where they traveled - it's a beautiful piece.
