You probably know, that I fancy fountains and flowing water. So it is good, that Zurich has the most fountains of any city in the world with approx. 1,200 drinking water fountains.
This detail of a fountain which is designed by architect Arnold Amsler of Winterthur is a small piece of art and is situated in the underground malls of the main station. Unlike most of the other city's fountains, here the water is not really drinkable. (Not that it would harm you if you did drink it. Its quality is much the same as that in a swimming pool.)
There's always a good supply of drinking water (not chlorinated) when you are on the go in Zurich – thanks to this numerous fountains. There is no need to look for a supermarket if you get thirsty, since you can simply quench your thirst at the nearest fountain. And that can never be far away, because there are so many.
Good to know, if you ever visit Switzerland; water of our fountains is always safe to drink unless there explicitly is a sign that says "Kein Trinkwasser" (no drinking water). But this is a very rare case.
This looks awesome opened on the black background, too! Love the blues. I'm glad you said it was a fountain and that you showed another shot of it, too. Wonderful!
