As our holidays are over, we had to say good bye South Tyrol, good bye golden light, good bye Haflinger horses on every meadow you hike by... meanwhile, after a 5 hour drive, we are safely back home.
The origin of those well known horses is not far from pictured place, maybe 20km away. The name "Haflinger" or "Avelignese" derives from the village of Hafling (in Italian language Avelengo). Haflingers are always chestnut in color, mane and tail are white or flaxen. They are gentle, kindly and smooth, and most of them come to you when you walk by and call them. And I love to gently pet them between the ears, picking the bristlegrass out of the mane and feel how they like it.
