Like gigantic tongues, the Pers Glacier and the Morteratsch Glacier are pushing from the snow-covered peaks of Piz Palü and Piz Bernina in the direction of Pontresina. Many, many years ago we (hubby M. and I) traversed those two glaciers from the Diavolezza with a guide and I still recall the feeling to jump over a deep crevasse. I'm not a coward in nature, but even beeing on a rope, it made my knees shake (before and after ;-)).
Today, we and my sisters and family hiked the spectacular but not so adventurous trail to the glacier tongue. Perfect family hike, on a perfect day. Unfortunately for us the last day in the Engadin.
Beautiful comp. I can imagine that feeling of leaping a glacier .which I have not done. There is a hike in Zion National Park called Walters Wiggles. After hundreds of switch backs you get to this point where you have to throw your leg over a huge boulder with 2000 feet straight down below. That’s where I got that feeling. I did do it and hubby and I have a great picture of us at the destination called Angels Landing.
wonderful, and looks like you had better weather today as we did. and less people :-) - we also like the engadin. have been there a lot, mainly for kitesurfing at silvaplana lake. also hiking and biking is great there. enjoy your holidays.
