Falcon or Hawk?

We did a 12 km hike yesterday at Cape Split and I captured this bird, but am not 100% sure what it is? I'm thinking it is either a Peregrine Falcon or a Sharp-Shinned Hawk. I am amazed to have got this shot.

In checking with some other people, and more internet research, it was determined to be a peregrine falcon. Thanks for your wonderful response to my image, I truly appreciate it. :)
