I'm not Scottish......

But we did enjoy a traditional Scottish type dinner with friends on the weekend, with haggis, neeps, tatties and butterscotch bread pudding (and roast for non-haggis eaters like myself). My hubby thought it might be fun to celebrate Robbie Burns day with a theme dinner and he was right. We had a great evening and a dram or two of fine whiskey.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
Ah, well done! I did not and have not yet celebrated Rabbie Burns' birthday, and I'm a true Scot! But I will - perhaps not tonight, but soon! I like the haggis, but I'm not a whisky lover. Lovely image of your malts.

sounds like you had fun, I'm sure somebody recited a few lines of Burns. Can I invite you to try a similar event for St Patrick's day on March17...

I love that Issi popped in with her take on all this, and John with his upcoming celebration in March! are you the one who threw the party? Who prepared the haggis? I'm sending your link to a dear Lunenburg friend who's a through-and-through Scotsman; he'll love it!

Fantastic idea and capture Nova some tasty looking malts there, I'm a malt whisky man myself, also not Scottish but have friends and former colleagues who are, have spent a good few Burn's nights with them over the years, please to hear you know all about neeps and tatties:)

@jamibann Thanks Issi, I'm glad you (a true Scot) approved. :)

@jack4john John it was a great time and yes, my hubby did his best to read the "Address to a Haggis" and we played bagpipe music. Of course we celebrate St. Paddy's day. One year we were in Mexico for St. Paddy's day and brought the celebration items with us, even green food colouring for our drinks. :)

@Weezilou Thanks Louise, yes, we were the hosts for this fun event. I will admit, we did not prepare the haggis from scratch, but purchased it at a speciality store. :)

@onewing Thanks Babs, everyone had fun and it was the first time I made bread pudding, and it turned out great.

@photographycrazy @pcoulson @peterlgrave Thanks guys, I'll have to say that the "good stuff" is my hubby's as this is his kind-of drink, not mine. You can probably see a couple of wine glasses in this shot for those who do not appreciate whiskey. :)

I love the warm colours of the tipple with the blue table linens. Glad you celebrated a great poet!
