Ode to "Ru II" by olivetreeann

Ode to "Ru II"

My "Little Red Ru" is a quick running steed,
Who takes me on errands,
And wherever I lead.
With bugs in her grill and gas in her tank,
She's ready and willing when I turn the crank.
She's got air for the heat,
And heat for the cold,
So the adventures we go on will never grow old!

One of the quirky things about me is that I did not get my driver's license until after the birth of my first child. There's a long story behind that, but once I did get it, there was no stopping me! I love to drive, especially on the highway, so there's really no distance I will not travel in a car. Shortly after we moved to Pennsylvania, we bought a red Subaru, which I thoroughly enjoyed driving. But it developed some problems and we were (badly) advised to get rid of it. Amazingly, we found another car, just like it, and so Little Red Ru II came home with us to be my car. She ended up with the same problems as our previous "Ru", however, by this time we'd met the right people to take care of her, and she now runs as good as new. My task today was to make sure her air conditioning was up to par, which I was more than happy to do! And then it was off to renew the picture on my license. I can't tell how grateful I am for this car! I had to go without her a few months back and it was sooo hard! So that's my poem and post for today.
There's a lot of good talk about the Ru's

@digitalrn @kkauter @bill_d @kerristephens @flydragon Thanks to all for your thoughts and comments! I've never heard of a Subaru Liberty- I don't think they make them here, but if it's anything like my Legacy, then it's great. Thanks for all the positive feedback on the POV. When I knew I'd be photographing the car, I really wanted to come up with something that was a little less typical.

Love your story and your sassy attitude! I got my driver's license when I was 16 but never drove until my older child was ready for kindergarten. And that is a story too!
So glad you were able to rewrite the ending of your Little Red Ru story and make it come out right!

@allie912 So many things can impact the way you go through life, and being slow to get my license was probably the least detrimental thing I could have done (as opposed to drugs or any other number of bad choices), but it really was comical to be pregnant and not be able to drive myself anywhere! Thankfully at the time, we lived two blocks from town, so I could at least do the food shopping without too much trouble. I never would have survived where we live now- nothing is close by! And good for you too- you seem to be driving to a lot of interesting places now. Thanks for your faithful comments!
