On Sunday I will be the guest speaker to the graduating class of Salem Christian School. They were my students last year before a budget crisis caused the school to cut my position. We really bonded on so many levels, it's hard to describe. One of my favorite "games" that we played was "Mrs. LeFevre, we have a random question for you," where they would ask any kind of question ranging from "What is your favorite flavor of ice cream" to "How come there are so many different denominations?" I would then have to answer the question, no matter how fun or serious, off the top of my head. Needless to say, they kept me on my toes! Well, here they are seniors, patiently running through the itinerary for Sunday's graduation. So what does practice make? Graduates!
It is a sad situation that someone who is obviously loved and respected must lose her job because of lack of funds. I'm glad that you were chosen to give this very important message. That is something that will be remembered for a long time.
@allie912 Thanks Allison- yes, I felt like I just got started there when everything came to a crashing halt. But the love of this class has really helped me to recognize that even in a short amount of time, God worked through me and I made an impact. And when it all comes down to it, the students are the ones who matter the most. So I am blessed by their choice of me as their graduation speaker.
