Mountain of Wood

Whenever I look at this pile, I feel like the job of stacking wood will never get done! Then I remind myself that this is what will keep me warm in the winter- as long as it's dry! So, one by one, the logs are placed on the wood racks. Slowly, but surely, the pile is shrinking. My joints, however, can't wait until I'm done!!
wow! This looks like hard work.... but just think of the lovely fire you get with them.... ahhhh

@kezzam Thank you Kerry! I know- I love our wood stove. It has a glass front so it's like watching a fire in the fire place. I took a few shots of it early in my project- but now that I know more about my camera- I'm looking forward to taking a few more in Nov/Dec.
@sanera Thanks Samantha. It's what I do to help hubby. He splits it; I stack it. I think he'd like me to do it a little quicker, but he understands I have to pace myself, otherwise I wouldn't be able to do it at all.

Beautiful shot, Ann! And one so familiar to me here in Minnesota. Many, many people use this for "fuel" around here. Hard, hard work . .but great photo!

@pampowell Thank you Pam- it's funny how a pile of wood really can look beautiful!
@kerristephens Thanks Kerri!
@bkbinthecity Thanks bkb- it is a pleasant smell. Cherry smells the best!
@karenann Thanks Karenann! Oh- you have even colder winters than we do!! We heat solely with wood. Couldn't afford it otherwise. Hope your wood's ready too!

@digitalrn Thanks Rick- not endless, but I certainly have a few more hours work to finish the whole pile!

Luckily we have gas, Ann. But my daughter uses wood . . love to sit by her wood stove! Cozy!

Great shot that's a lot of firewood and a lot of hard work

Nice shot, just think how cozy it will be when it is all done and you are sitting in the warmth of your hard work.

Whoa! What a task! I cheat and buy the fake logs, but it gets expensive. Being in FL we don't use the fireplace as much as you would Hey, how about gathering more and sending them this way? LOL! Neat shot!

@steeler Thanks Howard- hard, but in the end, rewarding.
@melorac You are absolutely right Carole- I love my cozy fire in the winter! Thanks!
@cimes1 Carole you are too funny!! No fake logs here- this is how we heat and they don't throw off enough warmth! I guess if all you need is 2 or 3 we could send some your way, but the shipping and handling might be a little costly-haha!!

Great textures! Just keep thinking about the 'after' picture - you'll get there soon!

@alia_801 Thanks Alia! (haha in some ways too soon, but in other ways- looking forward to it!)

They tell me wood heats you three times, stacking it, hauling it and burning it. It is the only heat we have, need better insulation to keep it in.
September 21st, 2011
@pandorasecho That's a good one Dixie- I'm going to write that down and use it on another wood picture sometime! Definitely- get that insulation upgraded- then you'll be toooo hot!!
