@paulineb Thank you Pauline! @salza Thank you sooooo much Sally! @groovygirlrn Thank you Sheri! @sangwann Thank you Dione! @alia_801 Thank you Alia! @digitalrn Thank you Rick! @ulpiphotos Thank you Ulpi! @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen! @allie912 Thank you Allison! The one on the bottom is truly an antique- the other two very old. @kimmistephens Thanks Kimmi! @cimes1 Thanks Carole! It was taken in sepia. I love sepia tone for old stuff! @beachradish Thanks Beachradish! @kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @pandorasecho Thanks Dixie! @deniseinindy Thanks Denise! And it's ok that you'd have shot it differently. It's fun to see how others see the world and compare it to our own way. I had a picture of the whole pile, but it didn't have as much character.
Thanks all! This vintage pile of books is quite special to me. The top two belonged to my mother. They are different copies of The Book of Common Prayer given to her in 1944 by my grandfather. The bottom book is an old photo album which has family pictures from my father's side in it. The one of my great great great grandmother has a striking resemblance to me. What you can't see here is our family Bible. The little books are resting on top of it. Another picture, another day perhaps.
I loved doing this one in the sepia. The old books really looked best this way (even though the top one is a nice black and the middle a light purple!).
@vickisfotos Thanks Vicki! One thing I love about digital cameras is that you can easily switch from color to black and white and sepia. It was a nice feature for this shot because I hadn't decided on which way to post it until I looked at it in my computer. Sepia brought out the texture of the material on the books hands-down.
@netkonnexion Thanks Netkonnexion. This was one of those shots that started out with the full stack, then came in closer and closer until I landed on this- my "look and look again" theory.
