Thumbnail Challenge- Vertical 5 by olivetreeann

Thumbnail Challenge- Vertical 5

We've had a steady drizzle of rain today, which is good for the plants, but not for me! I'm struggling to keep my eyes open! What have you been up to today?
Great lines

Another goodie w/great textures. Today? Getting over my cold at long last but still taking it easy. Mainly trying to get caught up here on 365 the last few hours. Whew!
July 20th, 2012
I had rain today as well...and all I wanted to do was nap!
July 20th, 2012
@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Uh-oh!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole- glad to hear you're on the mend. I got so behind on 365 last week, I just decided to pick up and move on from here. I think I'm following too many people now. I feel like I'm missing so many pictures!
@mrssmith Thanks Carla! I could have dozed off at least 4 times. But if I did then I'd be up all night!

Waiting to see how this challenge come out for everyone ... this looks great! I went out in the heat of the afternoon and tried to get some photos. Big mistake. All deleted and I'm "wilted."

@karenann Thanks Karenann! I think it's coming along nicely! Oh- I'm sorry the heat got to you! It's actually been rainy/drizzly all day here. I even have a sweater on!!

nice contrast in textures but i love the colours complimenting each other. now, i was at the lake at lunchtime, different part, called 'sugar beach'; nothing spectacular but there was a 'play me i'm yours' piano there and this lady in wheelchair was playing "imagine" and i cried. my heart goes out to the victims of last night's shooting in colorado and there was a shooting in toronto also last monday night. all pent up emotions bursting through. then i did my own shooting, with my camera, of course.

@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I saw the headlines this morning but didn't read the whole article. Felt so awful for them. Times are tense and I'm not sure it's going to get better any time too soon. Sounds like your day was a bit more productive than mine! I'm looking forward to seeing what shows up in front of the radiator tonight!

Ann I coudn't help but read the comment Vikki left you about the shooting in Aurora, Oregon and I'm so sad that so many had to lose their lives. do you know that a lady, I believe she was a sports reporter, by the name of Jessica Ghawi from Toronto was one of the unlucky ones who lost their lives at the movie theater after she got away in time at the Eaton Centre's shooting a while back here in Toronto. unfortunately this time she wasn't so lucky.

Great job. looks awesome.

We have been working, but we have also enjoyed seeing the rain. Now for the weekend. We must check out fencing for the yard, and patio furniture.

Ann heading through the pocono's shortly. Will be thinking of you. We. Always come through this way as I grewup right over the Hudson north of the City!! I'll be waving at you! :)

I'm liking the different textures. Your thumbnail view is looking really good! Seems like we are in for a cold, wet weekend! Guess that's the norm when living in a winter rainfall region :-)
July 21st, 2012
Hi Ann when I wrote about Jessica Ghaw I think I was wrong to say she was from Toronto. I think she just happened to be here at the time of the Eaton Centre incident. her boyfriend I think is Canadian.

@vposey Thanks Vickie! Sometimes the challenges are more demanding (like the movie one I'm doing right now- I like it, but it takes a lot to think of a set up, put it together and then do the shooting). But this challenge and a lot of the others I've done just make me more aware of what's around me everyday. I shoot what I see because it fits the challenge. This shot is a good case in point. It's just the back of a chair I rag painted over a decade ago! The only thing I did was lay the back down on the floor so that there'd be no distractions from the vertical pattern.

@bruni Thanks Bruni! Yes- you can choose whatever shape you want (I keep going back and forth between squares and circles- I think circles may win because that will be a nice balance between the lines of this week and the numbers and rainbow in the previous weeks). As for the tragic movie shooting- it seems there is always an element of "Wow- it didn't have to end like this!" That just seems so ironic that the reporter who died had been in a similar incident so recently! I know it sounds trite and this has probably been said way too many times, but the untimely death of another can bring you up short and make you examine how you're living your life. For me, it always leads me back to what I believe and if my life reflects that. As I am still mourning the loss of my father, my heart goes out to those who are now mourning the death of a loved one because of this man's actions. It is a complicated issue when you think of the factors that drove him to this insanity. Hopefully those who will suffer because of this loss will find healing over the course of time. And hopefully also this man will be held accountable for what he has done, no matter what the reason he had for doing it. Wow- didn't mean to get so philosophical!

@henrir Thanks Henri!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! Happy shopping!!
@ellimae Thanks Ellen! One of these trips you must plan to stop in!!
@salza Thanks Sally! One thing that has really struck me thanks to 365 is that we don't all go through the same season at the same time! It's still makes me say "Oh!" when I read about someone being cold and that it's winter since we are in the midst of a rather hot and rainless summer!

Bed slats? Interesting photo! It works well with your thumbnail challenge! Nice job!
July 21st, 2012
@prttblues Thanks Bev! No, the back of a chair that I rag painted in the 90's! I laid the chair down to take the shot.

Lyn
Ann, I have been so far behind myself and had determined that I had to catch up, but I truly think that sometimes it is just not possible. At those times, we have to allow ourselves some leeway and a LOT of forgiveness and understand that it happens to each and every one of those who care about us and our photos! Thank you so much for taking the time when you can to visit mine. . .and in the meantime, I LOVE your July calendar!
July 24th, 2012
@lyno Thanks Lyn! I have determined that my best plan of action is to at least view everyone's 365 album and then to view those who comment on my picture first. If I have time after that I go through the home page. But I feel bad because I know I miss a few that way. However, you can only do what you can do! I'm enjoying your pictures. You have a good eye for those nature shots- I loved your sunset shot!
